Flood Ready Neighborhoods provides direct support and services to neighborhoods experiencing impacts from coastal and stormwater flooding and erosion.

The NH Coastal Landowner Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) seeks to provide consistent, technical assistance to interested coastal landowners to help understand potential coastal flood risks and restoration opportunities, clarify goals for managing their property, and identify conceptual options that may enhance the resilience of their properties, neighborhoods, and community’s natural resources.

Project Builder offers a mix of mentorship, strategy-building, and creative problem-solving to help you shape a strong grant proposal.

The American Flood Coalition created the Flood Funding Finder—a first-of-its-kind, interactive website—to simplify the complex federal grants system and to help small communities identify and prioritize opportunities to fund flood resilience. 

To assist communities with awareness of current funding opportunities, the Climate Ready Coast – Southern Maine project team and NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup assembled the following database of federal, state, and private funding programs that could be used to support all stages of coastal resilience projects, including planning, site assessment, engineering and design, implementation, land acquisition, and monitoring.

The New Hampshire Flood Hazards Handbook has been developed to serve as a reference guide for municipal officials in the state to help them best prepare for, respond to, and recover from floods that affect their communities.

Assessing Vulnerability of Municipal Assets and Resources to Climate Change

The New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission final report and recommendations, Preparing New Hampshire for Projected Storm Surge, Sea-Level Rise, and Extreme Precipitation, was unanimously adopted on October 21, 2016. The report summarizes New Hampshire’s coastal vulnerabilities to projected coastal flood hazards and puts forth recommendations and actions for the State and coastal and tidal municipalities to minimize risk and increase resilience.

Assessing risk and vulnerability of coastal communities to sea level rise and storm surge in Seabrook, Hampton Falls, Hampton, North Hampton, Rye, New Castle, and Portsmouth.

The 2014 Science and Technical Advisory Panel Report, Sea-Level Rise, Storm Surges, and Extreme Precipitation in Coastal New Hampshire: Analysis of Past and Projected Future Trends, was intended to guide the New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission in developing its recommendations to assist in planning and preparation for the changing climatic conditions in coastal areas of the state. 

Federal and International Reports

The IPCC finalized the Synthesis Report for the Sixth Assessment Report during the Panel’s 58th Session held in Interlaken, Switzerland from 13 – 19 March 2023.

The Fifth National Climate Assessment is the US Government’s preeminent report on climate change impacts, risks, and responses. It is a congressionally mandated interagency effort that provides the scientific foundation to support informed decision-making across the United States.

The Sea Level Rise Technical Report provides the most up-to-date sea level rise scenarios available for all U.S. states and territories; decision-makers will look to it for information.
