SAIL Extension: Outreach to Conservation Commissions in NH’s Coastal Zone Municipalities

Building on the initial outreach to conservation commissions conducted during the NH Setting SAIL project, NHDES Coastal Program worked with The Nature Conservancy to develop: (1) an outreach strategy with goals and measurable objectives, and (2) supporting outreach materials to help coastal zone municipalities understand and use the Coastal Water Resources Plan for the purposes of implementing CRHC recommendation NR3 – Collaborate with the Southeast Land Trust (SELT) in identifying land conservation priorities.

The Coastal Program also conducted initial outreach, with input from The Nature Conservancy and SELT, to interested conservation commissions in at least 7 and up to 17 coastal zone municipalities on using the Coastal Water Resources Plan for the purposes of implementing CRHC recommendation NR3.

Additionally, the Coastal Program provided an extended period of hands-on assistance, with input from The Nature Conservancy and SELT, to help 1-3 interested coastal zone municipalities use the Coastal Water Resources Plan for the purposes of implementing CRHC recommendation NR3. Hands-on assistance includes at least three meetings per community.
