Tides to Storms 2 – New Castle Implementing Vulnerability Assessment Recommendations

Rockingham Planning Commission staff worked with the Town of New Castle Conservation Commission and Planning Board to review the Town’s Tide to Storms Vulnerability Assessment, develop and implement a public outreach and education program about the Town’s vulnerability to sea-level rise and storm surge, and develop changes to Town land use planning policies and regulations to enable Vulnerability Assessment findings to be incorporated into land use planning and emergency management decisions. These efforts resulted in the Planning Board securing additional funding from RPC’s Coastal Program grant to draft a new impervious cover and stormwater management ordinance.
