Resilient NH Coasts: Business Outreach

Business continuity workshops were held in June 2014 and March 2015. Business participation was emphasized for a December 11 Shoreline Conference organized by the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup as well as the March 2 Coastal Viewer webinar. Stephenson Communications coordinated “Weathering Change” – a business preparedness forum hosted by the Green Alliance, American Red Cross, the University of New Hampshire and Jenaly Technology Group and attended by 27 business people. Speakers from Coca Cola Bottling Company of Northern New England and Smuttynose Brewery emphasized the importance of planning and gave examples of work-centric preparation to attendees. The forum was widely publicized in the local media, including Seacoast Online and Fosters Daily Democrat. The content focused on how businesses can plan ahead to deal with natural disasters and included a facilitated exercise on maintaining business operations, as well as employee safety, safeguarding of vital records, and obtaining proper insurances.
